Lynbrook is a village home in the town of Hempstead. According to the 2000 census there are 7,369 people living in Lynbrook. The area was known as Bloomfield at first, and then became known by the name of the general store, Pearsall’s Corner. The village finally changed its name to Lynbrook even though the date is not known. Lynbrook is home to seven public schools including Waverly Park Elementary School, Marion Street Elementary School, Lynbrook Kindergarten Center, West End Elementary School, Lynbrook South Middle School; one middle school and one high school. Lynbrook has a variety of fine dining options, a movie theater, fire department, quaint shops, assisted living homes, and several hotels.

The parks in Lynbrook are the very popular with the Greis Park offering a recreation center, pool, and a roller hockey rink. Other activities that visitors and residents enjoy are the antique car show yearly in June to August.
